The tour took place over a long weekend in April, 24th – 27th, with 67 tourists who all stayed in the Warners Bembridge Coast Hotel, recommended by Cled. The majority travelled by Motts coach, enjoying the great service of Bryan, the driver, who fully immersed himself in all the activities over the weekend.

During the day, on Saturday, tour manager, Derek Mellor, had organised trips to a Sound, Light and Water Show which was a spectacular and novel experience. It was just a shame about the musty smell in the auditorium. Followed by a trip to a Vineyard, where following a talk about the different wines with tasting opportunities available, purchases could be made.

On Saturday evening, we sang with the small but very welcoming Newchurch MVC in Ryde. The acoustics were fantastic, and all enjoyed socialising at the Afterglow.

On Sunday, after a visit to the Needles Pleasure Park, we sang at Totland Bay. A tasty ploughman’s lunch was provided for us all in the church hall. The food was much appreciated but it was a tight fit to get everyone seated at tables.

Both accompanists: Philomena McRae and Avis Gerry were able to come on the tour, which was a luxury that paid great dividends. As can be seen from the photograph tours can be hard work for members of the music team and those with organisational responsibilities, while the rest of us enjoy ourselves and relax in their capable hands!
