This concert raised £1,100 in aid of the Aspire Centre, a charity based at RNOH Stanmore and the the Spinal Injuries Unit (50% each) was organised by Vivien and Alan Raggett (friends of Ron M and Cled). We were originally scheduled to perform at RNOH on this date, 23rd September, but unfortunately the venue they offered was not suitable.

The concert is described as “Part 2” because we did a successful concert in June 2016 raising £1,300 for The Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Harrow and The Alderbourne Rehabilitation Unit at Hillingdon Hospital that have helped Vivien recuperate.

The Full Choir performed a range of songs from stage and screen. The concert was introduced by a spokesperson from the Kenton Lions. At the beginning of the second half, Dean Tearle, Manager of the Aspire Centre, explained about the work they do to help people like Vivien. The Minister of the Church, Rev. Sue Male, thanked the choir at the end of the concert.

After the concert, Vivien and Alan emailed to say:

A massive thanks to both David Heasman & all members of the Choir & especially to Chris  Drew and Avis Gerry for arranging a wonderful concert on the 23rd at Pinner Methodist Church…

The monies have been used for new curling equipment for the Aspire Centre & archery equipment & lessons for the Spinal Injuries Unit.  Rather than it go into the general NHS pot for the SIU, we asked what particular equipment they needed. The SIU recovering patients in their wheelchairs & the Aspire members  can then make use of both lots of equipment in the sports hall.

We all enjoyed your concert on the 7th at Rickmansworth very much and pleased that a number of our friends and contacts could support as well. My Aspire classes group were full of praise and will support your concerts regularly, now they say.
